The Lumsden Duck Derby is a fundraiser
Held each labour day weekend in September.
The Lumsden Duck Derby is an annual fundraising event hosted by the Lumsden Sports Association. Proceeds from the Duck Derby support capital expenditures of the Lumsden Sports Centre. The Sports Centre provides recreational activity including hockey, figure skating and curling to Lumsden and the surrounding communities.
Each year on Labour Day, up to 25,000 numbered plastic ducks are dropped into the Qu’Appelle River that winds through the scenic valley town of Lumsden. The first 20 ducks to cross the finish line win valuable prizes for their owners. This year you could be the winner of $1,000,000!
You can purchase your tickets at a number of places in Lumsden, SK and Craven, SK. You can now also purchase tickets online.
Who does the event raise money for?
The Lumsden Duck Derby raises money for Lumsden Sports Association. For example, one year the Lumsden Duck Derby along with a new provincial matching grant program managed to raise over $60,000 to help pay down the mortgage on the new ice plant and ice-resurfacer at Lumsden’s community owned and operated ice rink, helping to keep down the cost of hockey and figure skating for local families.
Available to Saskatchewan Residents only.
